How To Answer "What's Your Expected Salary"? 🤑

This might be one of the most uncomfortable questions we receive 👇️ 

• “How much are you looking to earn?”

• “What was your previous Salary”?

The truth is most candidates don’t know how to give an accurate answer and how to reply in a way that doesn’t impact them negatively. The salary topic can be a deal breaker and may bring undesirable results 🙃 

• You might be disqualified for asking too much.

• You might be losing the opportunity of getting a higher offer.

• You might seem unqualified and without the skills by asking too little.

After attending hundreds of interviews and spending thousands of hours learning from the top US Career Coaches, I finally came up with a system to answer this question 😎 

Here’s the strategy I used with world-class companies & startups 👇️ 

• Step 1: Research salaries using multiple websites such as Glassdoor, Payscale, and Comparably.

• Step 2: Connect with people on Linkedin who used to work at that position (or similar) at that same company.

• Step 3: Decide which is the minimum number you would accept for that new job at that company.

• Step 4: Never say an exact number. Provide a salary range that can allow you to be flexible.

• Step 5: Make a list of your biggest achievements & highlights to reinforce why you are looking for that salary.
